What is Fine Line Reduction?

Dermal fillers are an effective way to fill in wrinkles and folds without surgery or downtime. Hyaluronic acid fillers like Restylane® or Juvéderm® work similarly to the natural matrix of collagen under the skin. This matrix tends to break down with aging, allowing the skin to sag and fold. By adding volume with fillers, you can restore the skin to its youthful state.

Am I A Good Candidate for Fine Line Reduction?

Fillers work best for mild to moderate signs of aging. If you’re beginning to see folds and deep lines and want to avoid surgery, then fillers can be a great option. Certain types of fine lines can also be treated with injectables like Botox® for a well-rounded regimen. Our injectors will discuss your health history and determine if fillers are your best option.

How Long Does Fine Line Reduction Treatment Take?

Filler treatments can take as little as 15-30 minutes. You’ll begin by discussing your goals with our injectors and putting together a personalized treatment plan. You’ll get an honest, expert opinion about what results you can expect and what treatments will pair best with your fillers. Once you’re ready, the product will be placed in the skin with a very fine needle. You’ll be able to see instant results and can ensure you’ve achieved your desired look. Once complete, you can return to your daily schedule.

Fine Line Reduction Aftercare

Fillers typically take up to two weeks to settle in. If you have an event coming up, our team can help you plan your treatment accordingly. It’s recommended to follow these aftercare instructions for best results:

  • Drink plenty of water
  • Avoid sleeping on your face
  • Keep your head elevated while sleeping
  • Avoid exercising or elevating your heart rate for the first 24 hours
  • Avoid hot environments like saunas, hot tubs, or hot showers
  • Avoid blood-thinning medications like ibuprofen

Each dermal filler product will last for a different amount of time, but on average they last for up to a year. At this point, you can return for a touch-up appointment with our injectors.

Meet Our Experts

Can I get Botox and fillers in the same visit for fine line reduction?

Absolutely! Botox and dermal fillers are often combined together to reduce or completely eliminate the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. The Botox formula can smooth out the skin by stopping the contraction of facial muscles, while dermal fillers boost volume and fill in lines and wrinkles.

What are the benefits of combining Botox with fillers for treating fine lines?

When combining Botox and fillers, you receive more significant anti-aging results. While Botox can address dynamic wrinkles that are created by repeated facial movements, dermal fillers can reduce the appearance of static lines on other areas of the face. Together, they can provide a more youthful appearance quickly and easily.

Is it safe to combine Botox and dermal fillers in one treatment session?

Yes! These two treatments are often safely combined in one “liquid facelift” session. They don’t negatively interact with each other.

How do Botox and fillers work together to reduce both dynamic and static wrinkles?

Botox only works on dynamic wrinkles (or wrinkles created by repeated facial expressions), while dermal fillers work primarily on static wrinkles that are visible even when the face is at rest. By addressing both types of wrinkles together, the combination of treatments can give you much more significant results.

Will combining Botox and fillers make my face look frozen or overdone?

With the expertise of Hayley Bugbee, PA-C, and our team at The Look MedSpa, you never have to worry about looking frozen or overdone. These treatments will simply enhance your natural beauty, not make you look plastic or unlike yourself.

How long do the results from a combined Botox and filler treatment last?

The results of Botox last for about 3-4 months. Dermal fillers, on the other hand, can last for up to two years, depending on the type of dermal filler used.

Can combining Botox with fillers extend the longevity of each treatment?

Yes, Botox and dermal fillers together can often extend how long each treatment lasts. Botox can allow less pressure or stress to be put on the areas where the dermal fillers are and vice versa, allowing the two formulas to be potent longer than they normally would be.

Which facial areas respond best to the combination of Botox and fillers for fine lines?

The combination of Botox and fillers works particularly well along the forehead area, around the eyes, along the cheeks and nasolabial folds, and around the mouth. That said, your provider will build a custom treatment plan to ensure you receive the best results for you.

What should I expect in terms of downtime or recovery when combining Botox and filler treatments?

Because treatment only consists of injections, you can typically go back to your normal activities almost immediately. You will want to avoid putting pressure on the treatment area, lying down, taking blood thinners, and strenuous activities, but beyond that, you can go about your normal day.

How often should I schedule follow-up appointments after combining Botox with fillers?

For Botox, you will likely want to schedule follow-up appointments every 3-6 months. Fillers typically need maintenance every six months to two years. Your provider will be able to give you a more exact timeline at your consultation.
